Siskiyou County Livestock Pass Program | Good Morning, The purpose of this email is to introduce you to the newly established Siskiyou County Livestock Pass program. Due to the scale of operations, and the fact that many ranches operate on a variety of leased and owned land that may or may not be contiguous, evacuating livestock from commercial ranching operations may not be possible in the event of a disaster. Sheltering-in-place may be the best and safest alternative. Safe access by trained and qualified ranch personnel is critical to livestock welfare, firefighter safety, and public safety. To that end and in coordination with local agencies, Siskiyou County UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) and the Siskiyou County Agricultural Department have established a program, through the issuance of a Livestock Pass, which may permit commercial livestock operators to gain entrance to evacuation zones or other restricted areas to care for commercial livestock during a disaster. Please see the flyer below for more information. The full program overview is available here: https://ucanr.edu/sites/Siskiyou_County_Coop_Extension/files/366577.pdf If you would like to enroll in the Siskiyou County Livestock Pass program, you must complete the pass application form and attend the mandatory training on May 10th, 2022. Completing the application will count as registration for the training. The registration and training for the pass is being managed by UCCE. The passes will be administered and approved through the County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office. | 4/21/22 | |
