| Become a UC Master Food Preserver Volunteer | Become a UC Master Food Preserver Volunteer by Laura K Snell UCCE Modoc County Director
The University of California Master Food Preserver Program invites adults interested in helping others learn about safe home food preservation to apply for certification as a UC Master Food Preserver volunteer. This year will be the inaugural Intermountain Master Food Preserver Program covering Siskiyou, Modoc, Lassen, Sierra and Plumas Counties. The 2023 new volunteer training program is now open for applications at http://ucanr.edu/2023ucmfp. Prior food preservation experience is not required. UC Master Food Preserver volunteers learn research-based food preservation techniques and then share that knowledge with their local community at online and in-person public demonstrations and guest speaker presentations, through social media, and at information booths at farmers markets, county events and the California State Fair. Attend an online informational meeting Friday, November 18, 2022: 12:00 Noon—1:00 pm to learn more about the volunteer requirements as well as the selection and training process. The training lasts one hour and a recorded version will be available. Attendance or viewing of the information meeting is a mandatory pre-requisite to apply. The 2023 UC Master Food Preserver program training classes will be on 10 Fridays from 2 pm - 4 pm on the following dates: Jan 21, Feb 3, 10, 24; Mar 10, 24; Apr 14, 28; May 5, 19. | Forever 4-H Siskiyou County Endowment | Siskiyou County 4-H has been given the opportunity, by a generous donor, to be provided up to $10,000 toward a funding match to establish a Forever 4-H Siskiyou County Endowment.
